Saving threatened habitats worldwide

Swarovski Optik

WLT is delighted to welcome SWAROVSKI OPTIK in the UK as a corporate supporter. With headquarters in Absam, Tyrol, Swarovski Optik is part of the Swarovski group of companies. Founded in 1949, the Austrian company specialises in the development and manufacturing of long-range optical instruments of the highest precision in the premium segment of the market.

The Keepers of the Wild programme was founded in 2011 to support the Trust’s overseas conservation partners when monitoring and safeguarding the habitat and wildlife in reserves created with funding from WLT. To further assist the dedicated reserve rangers in protecting these vulnerable habitats, SWAROVSKI OPTIK has donated four pairs of their SLC 42 binoculars for the rangers to use in their day-to-day activity. The binoculars were awarded to the Trust’s project partners during an event in Kew, London, on 8 May 2014, and the recipients were Asociación Civil Provita in Venezuela, Grupo Ecológico Sierra Gorda  in Mexico, Fundación Pro-Bosque in Ecuador and Asociación Ecológica de San Marcos de Ocotepeque in Honduras. The SLC range is one of SWAROVSKI OPTIK’s most durable binoculars, offering high-optical quality and a large field-of-view. The multi-purpose binoculars are extremely rugged, thanks to the magnesium housing, and comfortable to hold even over long periods.

Peter Antoniou, UK Country Manager for Swarovski Optik commented, “We are extremely proud to lend our support to such a worthwhile charity as World Land Trust. The appreciation of nature and environmentally-friendly production is an essential part of our company philosophy, and we therefore hope the rangers find the binoculars help them in the essential work that they do.”

John Burton, CEO and Founder of World Land Trust added, “We are delighted to be working with SWAROVSKI OPTIK as a new corporate supporter and the equipment they have donated will make a huge difference to our Keepers of the Wild programme. The rangers we support carry out a difficult job and binoculars are an absolute necessity. Having the highest quality product will help them do the best possible job in protecting threatened habitats.”

Swarovski Optik (SO) have committed to further support for WLT’s Keepers of the Wild programme and a sponsor of the WLT’s stand at the 2014 Birdfair they are donating a pair of pocket binoculars as a competition prize.

World Land Trust thanks them for their generous support and looks forward to a long and rewarding partnership.
