World Land Trust SponsorsMore current WLT sponsorsEcology Building SocietyFrom its inception Ecology Building Society has had an interest in the World Land Trust as one of the co-founders of WLT was David Pedley, who was also the founder of the EBS. David, a solicitor from Cross Hills and former legal advisor to Friends of the Earth, persuaded ten people to put in £500 each and registered the Society at the end of December 1980. David Pedley worked on wildlife legislation alongside John Burton who was a wildlife consultant to Friends of the Earth from 1970-1975. It was a natural development that David helped to set up WLT, and was one of its first Trustees. The EBS is now one of the fastest growing building societies in the country with over 10,000 open accounts and assets exceeding £60m. More recently they have become a corporate sponsor of the Trust and the 2005 and 2006 issues of WLT News carried flyers about their mortgages as it was considered that they may be of interest to WLT supporters. Kentish Hills Spring WaterKentish Hills Spring Water flows from deep below Toys Hill, a well-known beauty spot and one of the highest points in the south east. The water is naturally pure and chemical analysis shows that this purity is maintained throughout the year. To ensure its purity is preserved the water is bottled at source within minutes of leaving the ground on Scords Farm. Kentish Hills Spring Water is delivered across the country and overseas to a wide range of outlets, including restaurants, retail outlets, public houses and golf clubs. Kentish Hills became sponsors of the World land Trust in 2004 through the personal contact of a WLT intern who lives at Scords Farm. Since then they have supplied water free of charge for WLT fundraising events and key meetings.
