Elizabeth Stone - Chief Operating Officer

Elizabeth Stone

Elizabeth became Chief Operating Officer in December 2018 having joined WLT in September 2012 as Head of Finance.

Elizabeth started her career in accountancy practice realising early on that the not for profit sector was where her heart lay. After 10 years in practice she moved into the not for profit sector undertaking various financial roles at the National Trust and a local Bristol city community farm before becoming Executive Director at a charity in Bristol supporting adults with learning disabilities.

A trained accountant at heart Elizabeth still maintains a love of data and spreadsheets! She also maintains a very keen eye on ensuring that every penny raised is spent supporting the WLT’s mission.

A view of the Caucasus at sunset, Armenia

Having a life long connection with the natural world Elizabeth has been fortunate enough to visit our Armenian partner, Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC), on several occasions working alongside them on the development of their sustainability plans.

Not knowledgeable about birds in any shape or form, Elizabeth saw every single species there was to offer on her last visit to Armenia including a life changing experience of seeing over 700 European bee-eater (Merops apiaster) flying up on the thermals at dusk. A moment that will stay with her forever and drives her continued passion and enthusiasm for the work WLT undertakes.

When not working Elizabeth can be found out walking enjoying the beautiful Norfolk countryside.
