Securing vital land
Conservation is critical. We are rapidly losing forests and destroying corridors that provide safe passage for endangered species. But it’s not too late to save vital land.
Through Action Fund, we support urgent land purchases to extend our partners’ existing reserves. So far this has included reserve expansions in countries such as Ecuador, Argentina and South Africa.
Many of these areas are at high risk of logging, deforestation for agriculture, and human encroachment, so it’s imperative that we secure them when the opportunities arise. Your support to Action Fund makes this possible, enabling our partners to quickly expand protected areas and safeguard more homes for wildlife.
Facing the threat of Wildfires
Climate change and human behaviour are causing an increasing risk of extreme weather around the world. In turn, this creates a higher risk of wildfires. The effects of which can be devastating for land, communities and wildlife alike.
Action Fund helps to prevent this fate. When forest fires threaten reserves, your donations allow our partners to take immediate action to prevent the flames from taking hold. Recently, we have provided funding for our partners in Mexico and Armenia to help their firefighting efforts.
By providing anti-fire kits and training for staff, Action Fund gives our partners the support needed to respond to natural disasters and swiftly stop these threats in their tracks.
Crucial support for Rangers
Conservation must start with land purchase, but securing land is only the beginning. It is the boots on the ground that keep it protected in the long-term. The rangers in our partners’ reserves are taking action every day to do just that.
Action Fund donations enable our partners to employ experienced local men and women as rangers, helping to fund their daily work to preserve these incredible habitats.
