Building a Rainforest

When the children of Ardvreck School's small pre-prep department learnt about rainforests, the topic captured their imagination and the they decided to make their own rainforest in the school corridor:

"We sold leaves for a penny, flowers for 5p and animals for 10p, these were named and then stapled onto a vine for all to see. In addition one of our parents helped to create this lovely tangle of vines and flowers, using wire frames found on a dump and covered in tights, vines made from hosepipes and ladies tights stuffed with pot pourrie for a nice smell."

Little did the children know that their rainforest would take on an authentic smell and sense when the school had a burst boiler and flooded!

The Ardvreck pupils saved two acres of rainforest, in Brazil and Ecuador.
