Negotiations begin on land to protect Caucasian leopard habitat
WLT has raised enough money to agree an initial lease of 800 hectares alongside the Caucasus Wildlife Refuge, thanks to an early response to our Caucasian Leopard Special Appeal. The corridor is vital for the survival of the Caucasian leopard, and you can help WLT reach its first stage target of £20,000 by the end of 2012 with a Christmas gift donation. This month we introduce Roving Reporter, a new regular blog on WLT website's News pages. Bethan John, former WLT assistant editor, is on an 18 month tour of WLT funded reserves in Latin America. Read her reports from the field for vivid impressions, colourful descriptions and detailed insights into rainforest conservation work. The photograph shows Bethan (centre) with Roberto Pedraza Ruiz from the local conservation organisation Grupo Ecológico Sierra Gorda, and Ruth Canning, WLT Conservation Programmes Officer (America Regions) on a recent field trip to Hoya del Hielo, Mexico.
