2010 has been declared the International Year of Biodiversity (IYB) by the UN, as a way of highlighting the importance of biodiversity - the variety of life - for the health of the Earth and its inhabitants. WLT is a partner of IYB-UK.
In celebration of the habitats protected by WLT's project partners and the diversity of wildlife safe-guarded in these reserves, we are delighted that we have been invited to take part in the 2010 Chelsea Flower Show taking place in London this May. Our exhibit will aim to replicate a tiny corner of the Atlantic Rainforest (pictured above).
In the run-up to Chelsea we will be featuring progress on the construction of the exhibit on our events pages.
Throughout the year WLT will be expanding our online photo galleries to showcase wildlife encountered in our project areas. And you can help: Share your photos and videos from WLT's project areas on our Flickr group and on the Wildlife Focus website.
We are posting regular updates on species that occur in our partners' reserves, to coincide with the IUCN Red List's "Species of the Day". To receive these updates, follow WLT on Twitter or become a fan on Facebook.
You can help us buy real, green, acres of tropical forest for your loved one this Valentine’s Day.
Make a Valentine Gift Donation to the WLT for £25 or more, and receive a scrumptious bar of Meltdown organic fairtrade milk chocolate and a beautiful Gift Pack containing a Valentine Certificate. (Chocolate offer available for UK delivery only. See website for terms and conditions.)
Or, purchase one of Rainforest Friends' selection of ethically produced, super large soft toys, together with half an acre or one acre of rainforest, and receive a special Certificate for your Valentine.
