"Carbon Balanced by the WLT" This month, the World Land Trust are launching a new way to help support Rainforests. There has been a lot written in the news recently about "Carbon Sequestration" - that is using trees to absorb the Carbon Dioxide produced by human activity, which leads to global warming. The WLT believes that the best way to help balance carbon is by saving our precious Rainforests. Rainforests absorb many millions of tonnes of Carbon every year, and store much much more. When Rainforests are cut down, most of the trees are just wasted and burned which leads to Carbon being released into the atmosphere. New CarbonBalanced.org website launched The World Land Trust has launched a new minisite, to explain about Carbon Balancing, and to highlight the role of Rainforests in maintaining life on earth. On the minisite you can use our interactive scales to work out how many acres of Rainforest you would need to purchase, to help balance the Carbon you produce. www.focusonforests.org : Feedback wanted! Over the last few months the WLT web designer Pete, has been working on the Focus on Forests website. The site is an online version of a forestry book written by the World Land Trust, aimed at keystage 3 students. The Department for International Development (DFID) have funded the site. Although the site is not yet finished, most of the pages have been uploaded. The WLT is looking for feedback about the site, preferably from 11-14 year olds. The address is www.focusonforests.org . Feedback can either be emailed directly to us, or completed on the website feedback form.
