The business has taken many sustainable initiatives to reduce its environmental impact, including: recycling all of its waste back into other paper products; having part ownership of its principal supplier, Corrboard UK, the first UK corrugator to be powered by its own anaerobic digestion plant; obtaining Forest Stewardship Council® certification; achieving ISO 14001 certification and setting a goal of achieving Carbon Net Zero within Scope’s 1 and 2 by 2030; ensuring all company cars are either hybrid or fully electric; installing 30,000 square feet of solar panels – the solar installation is a 450kWP PV system, which generates 50% of all the plant’s energy used directly from the sun. In total, this means less CO2 in the atmosphere compared to conventional energy sources which is calculated as saving an absorption rate of 20,000 trees every year; and LED and PIR sensors installed throughout the business.
