Buy an acre

Habitat loss is the greatest threat facing wildlife worldwide. We believe that by protecting land, acre by acre, we are taking the best action to ensure a future for wildlife.

Traslasierra National Park

Traslasierra National Park

The Traslasierra National Park contains one of the southernmost strongholds of Dry Chaco forest within Argentina – a precious habitat home to an exceptional diversity of species. Among these are over 230 bird species and 35 mammal species, many of which are found nowhere else on Earth. These include the Chaco Owl, Chacoan Peccary, and Chacoan Naked-tail Armadillo.

But with support from WLT’s Buy an Acre programme, Aves Argentinas is purchasing 2,606 hectares (6,440 acres), as part of a wider acquisition of 46,538 hectares (114,998 acres). This will significantly advance the protection of the Dry Chaco Forest ecosystem and also increase connectivity to neighbouring reserves such as the Chancaní Provincial Park, Salinas Grandes Provincial Reserve, and Ansenuza National Park.
