Big Match Fortnight is back, and this year we need your help to secure vital land in two globally important conservation landscapes
In Bolivia, agricultural expansion is threatening to destroy vital habitat. We have a small window to expand a reserve that protects one of the last strongholds for the Critically Endangered Blue-throated Macaw (Ara glaucogularis). Only 700 of these birds remain in the wild.
In South Africa, iconic species like the Leopard (Panthera pardus) are under pressure as their habitat becomes increasingly fragmented. Here, we have the chance to strengthen a crucial wildlife corridor by safeguarding strategically important land before it is lost.
Your donations will enable our partners Asociación Armonía and Wild Tomorrow to secure 702.3 ha across the two continents, to protect a rich diversity of habitat and over 1,600 species.
Plus, if you donate during Big Match Fortnight between the 7 and 21 October, your gift will be doubled in value through matched funding.
In a snapshot, your donation towards our £866,339 fundraising target will:
● Secure a total of 702.3 ha of threatened habitat – the 66.3-ha LeMvelo property in South Africa, and the 636-ha La Curva Ranch property in Bolivia.
● Employ rangers in both Bolivia and South Africa
● Fund 15 team members to plant 1,000 trees across 20 ha of degraded sand forest in South Africa
● Establish and maintain fire breaks and provide materials for a new education and outreach centre in Bolivia
