Local supporters of World Land Trust (WLT) are being given the opportunity to have their Will written by the Halesworth branch of solicitors firm Norton Peskett. WLT is delighted to be one of the charities supported through this initiative.
Norton Peskett’s ‘Wills for Charity’ month will take place in November, with all proceeds going to charities based in the area. Clients who wish to have a simple Will drawn up will be asked to consider making a donation to one of the participating charities to reflect the fee usually charged when making a Will.
Claire Fox, Chartered Legal Executive at Norton Peskett, said “Making a Will is one of the most thoughtful and important things we can do to protect those we love. Yet it is surprising that fewer than half of people have made one. Most say they simply haven’t got around to it and yet it can take years to sort out someone’s estate if they die without a Will, and can cause significant problems for their families.”
“To raise as much money as possible for our local charities, we will draw up basic Wills and your donation will be paid in full to your chosen charity. The suggested donation level is £125 for a single basic Will, £200 for a pair of Wills.”
Donations made from Wills for Charity to WLT will go towards the Action Fund, which is used for WLT’s most urgent projects around the world.
The Action Fund allows WLT the flexibility to react to the changing circumstances faced by partner organisations, especially when immediate conservation intervention is needed. In 2016 the Action Fund has been used to safeguard the habitat of the El Oro Parakeet in Ecuador, reforestation in Bolivia, extending the Caucasus Wildlife Refuge in Armenia and supporting the creation of community reserves in Peru.
