Wildlife television presenter, Steve Backshall is calling on supporters of World Land Trust (WLT) to double the impact of their donations by giving during Big Match Fortnight.
During the first two weeks in October, all donations to WLT’s Forests in the Sky Appeal are being matched with funds pledged in advance by a small group of generous donors.
But there are just a few days to go before the match funding period ends at midnight on 15 October 2015.
Act now – before it’s too late
“Time is running out for donations to World Land Trust’s Forests in the Sky Appeal to be matched,” said Steve in a recent video message. “We need your help to raise £500,000 to save the cloud forests of Ecuador between now and 15 October 2015.”
Funds raised through the appeal will purchase and protect a biological corridor between the national parks of Llanganates and Sangay in central Ecuador, in partnership with Fundación EcoMinga.
Steve urged supporters to help protect Ecuador’s cloud forests before it’s too late: “Think of all you can do to help save that incredible environment and all of the plants and wildlife that are found there. We’re relying on you!”
Appeal target £500,000
Thanks to generous supporters, so far more than £150,000 has been raised towards the appeal total. However with land prices in Ecuador set to increase dramatically in the near future, it is vital that the £500,000 target is reached as soon as possible.
