The number of Friends of World Land Trust (WLT) has been increasingly steadily and has now reached 1,500.
“I am delighted to announce in our 25th Anniversary year that we now have 1,500 World Land Trust Friends,” said John Burton, WLT Chief Executive.
“The regular monthly contributions made by Friends are tremendously important because knowing funds have been pledged in advance enables us to plan future land purchase and conservation projects.”
We invited WLT’s 1,500th Friend to tell us why he supports the Trust.
He told us: “I donate to World Land Trust because their model of conservation is perfectly designed to reverse the catastrophic loss of global ecosystems. By reclaiming land ownership for nature they are securing it for the future. By giving project control to local people they are stimulating a sustainable relationship between the environment and its human inhabitants. These interventions are essential in order to conserve biodiversity and combat environmental degradation.”
Becoming a WLT Friend is a great way to support the important conservation work of the Trust. In return for a monthly donation of £5 (or more) Friends receive an annual Friend Card, priority booking for WLT events and, if requested, regular news updates (a copy of WLT News three times a year and monthly eBulletins).
Donations from WLT Friends go into WLT’s Action Fund and are used as most urgently needed.
You can become a Friend in your own right or you can give the gift of WLT Friendship to someone you know. If you give the gift of WLT Friendship, both you (the donor) and the gift recipient will receive WLT Friends’ benefits.
