Wild Spaces SupportersBlackpool Zoo
Blackpool Zoo is supporting conservation work in South America, to link with the opening of the Zoo's new walkthrough exhibit "Amazonia". A South American rainforest themed campaign took place throughout the summer of 2006 to raise funds to help save threatened wildlife in South America. They are donating part of the funds raised to the World Land Trust to purchase land at one of our South American projects, linking to the animals which they have at the zoo. British & Irish Association of Zoos & Aquariums
The British & Irish Association of Zoos & Aquariums is the professional association representing zoos and aquariums in Britain and Ireland. BIAZA supports and leads its members, working with them to increase the role that they play in conservation and education. The World Land Trust is working with BIAZA to develop a new initiative bringing zoos and aquariums together to protect an area of the Atlantic forest in Brazil. All contributions would support WLT's project working with partner organisation REGUA to expand a reserve in one of the largest remaining tracts of the Atlantic forest. Conservation Breeding Specialist Group
The Conservation Breeding Specialist Group is part of IUCN - the World Conservation Union - and their mission is to save threatened species by increasing the effectiveness of conservation efforts worldwide. They have over ten years experience and nearly 1,000 voluntary members, bringing together people and knowledge to benefit conservation. CBSG is working with the World Land Trust to provide their members with the opportunity to offset carbon dioxide emissions associated with travelling to the 2007 CBSG Annual Meeting. As part of WLT's Carbon Balanced programme, funds will go towards reforestation projects in Ecuador, where WLT is working with partner organisation Fundación Jocotoco to create a network of reserves to protect threatened species. Thrigby Hall Wildlife Gardens, Great Yarmouth
Thrigby Hall Wildlife Gardens is a progressive zoo with a focus on conservation and is supporting the World Land Trust's Wild Lands Elephant Corridor project in India with money raised through the Thrigby Conservation Fund. Most of the animals at Thrigby Hall are species found in Asia, including tigers, gibbons, otters and alligators, so they were keen to support conservation work in Asia. Their donation is going towards the acquisition of a forest corridor in Kerala State in Southern India, where 20% of the country's elephant population is found. Tropical World, Leeds
