Issues in Conservation:

The Red Ape Debate - the Future for the Orang-utan

Orang-utan numbers have plummeted over recent years, mainly as a result of the spread of plantation monocultures. The destruction of huge areas of Orang-utan habitat is now driving the species to extinction. Urgent decisions need to be made: how best to ensure the survival of this, the “person of the forest”?  Experts are divided in their opinions and this discussion attempted to integrate some of their views and open the debate to the floor.
