Saving threatened habitats worldwide

Potts Print UK

Potts Print UK are committed to reducing their environmental impact; sustainability and eco-friendly processes are key focuses for Potts and they have dramatically reduced their carbon footprint over recent years. In addition to their ISO14001 Environmental Management Systems, FSC and PEFC accreditations, in 2012 Potts became one of only 12 Carbon Balanced Printing Companies in the UK. Through this commitment, and by using Carbon Balanced Paper, Potts directly help their customers reduce the impacts of their printed communications whilst protecting ecologically important forests at threat of clearance.

Potts environmental commitments are clear to see throughout the business. Their pre-press department uses AGFA’s Azura TS plates and chemistry-free setters. An energy efficient and environmentally friendly solution, this technology uses a thermal process instead of chemicals to produce plates for print and the plates can be recycled and reused after use. This eco-friendly method allows for a safer work environment because of the chemistry-free procedure and has reduced chemical usage in this department by over 12,000 litres per year.

Other environmental initiatives at Potts include the use of vegetable based inks, reducing their waste to landfill to just 1 per cent of waste material produced, and the use of electric hybrid fleet vehicles. Potts have also made further investments in a virtual PC infrastructure which has contributed to a reduction in their energy consumption by 9 per cent.
