Security Information

The World Land Trust uses a secure server to process all donations from the Internet. This ensures that the sensitive information that you give is encrypted so that it cannot be read by others.

ProtexOnline Donations

For donations and orders, information is transmitted using a high-grade encryption (RC4 128bit) and processed by Protex. Read more about the security Protx uses on www.protx.com/security.asp

To ensure the information you are giving is protected from prying eyes, look for the padlock symbol in your browser. This will be displayed next to the address bar at the top of the window, or in the bottom right or left hand corner depending on which browser you use. Normally the padlock is open or not displayed, but when it is closed the site you are viewing is secure.

secure connection in IE 5 secure connection in Netscape 7
Internet Explorer users will see this. Netscape/Firefox users will see this (some older versions use a key symbol instead - when the key is complete, you are viewing a secure site)

You shold also look at the address shown in the address bar of your browser. On a secure page, the address will begin with https instead of http.

Security certificate information

Our online donation form is secured using a thawte Digital Certificate. This ensures that all information you send to us using the form will be encrypted. Please click on the thawte Trusted Site Seal which demonstrates our commitment to your security.

In Internet Explorer and Netscape you can view the Security certificate information for the website in question by double-clicking on the padlock symbol. The World Land Trust holds a SSL Server Certificate issued by Thawte Server CA.

If you have any questions about donating to the WLT over the internet you can contact us via the web, or you can call Anne on 0845 054 4422 (charged at local rate) or +44 (0) 1986 874422 if you are calling from outside the UK. The WLT will also accept credit card donations over the telephone, or by fax to 01986 874425. Have a look here for further information on different donation methods.
