Will to Charity: Make a Will to Help Save Wildlife Habitats

Help protect endangered species and their habitats through a legacy to the World Land Trust

Remembering the work of the World Land Trust when making a will is a very easy way of ensuring our work continues in the longer term, and many of our supporters have already indicated that they have made bequests to the Trust.

A legacy can be earmarked for a particular region or project, and in addition several of our supporters have requested that friends and family make donations to the World Land Trust instead of sending flowers to a funeral.

You can decide which project your legacy will support

There are often good financial reasons for making charitable bequests (see Tax Benefits and Legacies), and we would always suggest you consult your lawyer when drafting a will. But if you already have a will, you can always make a short codicil with your instructions.
And provided this is witnessed and signed by two people, and appended to the original Will, it will ensure your wishes are implemented.

Often a good way of supporting charity is leaving a residual will, so that only the funds left after all other bequests to family and friends have been made does the charity benefit.

A donation to save Rainforests would make a green alternative to flowers at a funeral

If you are considering a bequest of land for conservation purposes, we would strongly recommend considering making it a donation in your lifetime, as that way we can ensure that your own wishes concerning the future of the land are taken into account.

While it may generally be preferable to leave the precise project to be supported to the discretion of the Trustees of the WLT, there are often good reasons why you might want to earmark it for a particular project or region. If you would like to discuss if your intentions in confidence, please contact John Burton at the World Land Trust.

A legacy to the World Land Trust will help save threatened habitats for future generations.
