Before you start
Please consider the environmental impacts of your fundraising activities and try to make your event as "green" as possible. The World Land Trust may not be able to publicise fundraising events we believe have a negative impact on the environment or would otherwise conflict with the Trust's goals.
Fundraising Ideas

Baking and selling cakes is an easy and fun way to raise funds to save rainforest.
- Check out our Top 20 fundraising ideas for some fun ways to raise funds.
- Get some inspiration from previous fundraising activities in WLT's supporter news.
- See how previous supporters have raised money for WLT, in our Hall of Fame.
- WLT also runs a "Land for Cartridges" ink jet cartridge recycling scheme. Perhaps you could organise a collection of empty printer cartridges?
- Fundraising Resources: If you would like more of our leaflets, newsletters and wall charts to help with your fundraising, just contact us and we will send them to you immediately.
Allocating your funds
It is very helpful for us if your fundraising donations can be placed in WLT's Action Fund for our most urgent project needs. Please let us know if you would prefer your donations to go to a specific project.
Fundraising Offline

Complete a bike ride and your friends and family will want to support all your hard work.
If you have raised your funds offline, please complete a donation form (318KB) (Opens in new window) and send your cheque, payable to the World Land Trust to the address below or you can also make a donation online.
Please make it clear when you make your donation that it was from a fundraising activity. You might also like to include photos or stories to share in the WLT Hall of Fame.

Fundraising Online
Fundraising websites such as JustGiving and Virgin Money Giving make it easy for you to collect funds for an event or cause online. Setting up a fundraising page is quick, easy and free, and making donations is 100% secure. Receiving donations is tax efficient for the World Land Trust and reduces our administration costs.
WLT will also receive all donations automatically when your friends and family donate online by credit or debit card - so no more running around with paper sponsorship forms.
Create an online page when you:
- take part in a sponsored event - or create your own;
- celebrate your wedding. Asking people to donate to WLT makes a truly green wedding list;
- celebrate your birthday;
- wish to raise money in memory of a loved one.

Tips on making the most of your fundraising page
- Personalise your page as much as possible: add photos and write a personalised message.
- Email your close friends first: they tend to be more generous and encourage future donors to give more.
- Contact your local paper, radio and TV stations and tell them about your fundraising efforts.
- Use a widget to spread the word on social networking sites such as Facebook and MySpace.
- Write to your friends again with an update on your activities after the completion of the event, as about 20% of donations come in after the event has taken place.
