Colchester Sixth Form, UK
Green Week
The Environmental Committee at Colchester Sixth Form held a Green Week in March 2010.
During the week several events were held including a turbo bike challenge, a bicycle powered movie, visits from organisations demonstrating how to be environmentally friendly and the week culminated in an Unplugged, acoustic live music session on the Friday.
The event was well supported; students and teachers donated to bucket collections and raffle ticket sales, and the total fundraised was over £350. WLT's Kelly Jacobs visited the sixth form who decided to donate the funds raised to the Borneo Orang-utan Appeal. WLT is working with Malaysian conservation organisation LEAP Spiral to raise funds to create corridors to protect vital pieces of rainforest and to ensure continuous habitat for orang-utans and other wildlife.
