Carbon Balance Christmas!

Carbon Balance Christmas!

Press Release dated: Thursday, November 23, 2006

Father Christmas should be a shining example to us all this year. Whilst he is dashing around on his low-carbon sleigh pulled by eight eco-friendly reindeer, we are melting the ice caps around his Arctic home and upsetting the local polar bears and snowy owls with our excessive carbon emissions!

So to show Santa a little appreciation the World Land Trust has calculated that after cutting down your Christmas tree, cooking enough turkey and trimmings to feed the family, throwing another log on the fire before sitting down to watch the Queen's speech, the average UK family could carbon balance Christmas for a mere £7.50.

Alternatively why not go the whole hog and make a resolution to carbon balance your whole year. The average person can balance their carbon emissions for approximately £25 a year (not including air travel) which could buy an acre of endangered habitat. The average family of four can carbon balance for approximately £86 a year which could purchase THREE ACRES of tropical forest in Ecuador or Brazil!

You can visit www.worldlandtrust.org where there is a full range of gift options which not only allows you to protect rainforest but also an abundance of animals ranging from elephants to penguins. Make your gift a green gift this Christmas!
