José works in Río Canandé Reserve in the Chocó forest of north western Ecuador.

His roles include helping maintain a small nursery of fruit trees to produce food for the reserve’s  bird feeding stations, in order to facilitate observation and monitoring.

José has also helped renovate the hummingbird garden, where several plants have been introduced specifically to attract birds.
