Details:

The World Land Trust (WLT) Controversial Conservation debate will be hosted by WLT Patron Chris Packham in 2016. Chris will be joined by a panel of experts to discuss the pros and cons of burning stockpiles of elephant ivory as a means to prevent the illegal trade.

Destroying ivory stockpiles may seem a positive action and it certainly creates discussion and awareness. But the burning of these stockpiles may be artificially driving up the price. Experts on the panel will give their views and also suggest alternatives that may or may not save elephants from extinction.

This event was originally scheduled for 8 October 2015, but was cancelled due to circumstances beyond WLT’s control. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and we are in the process of contacting those who booked tickets to arrange an immediate refund.
