Described as the birdwatcher's Glastonbury, the annual Birdfair encompasses the whole spectrum of birdwatching with hundreds of stands selling the latest products for wildlife enthusiasts from binoculars to sculptures, bird food to books, eco-holidays to artwork. There are excellent lectures too. WLT has had a stand at the Birdfair for several years and we feel it gets better and better.
This year we offered free Fairtrade coffee, thanks to WLT sponsors Puro coffee, which went down very well with both visitors and exhibitors. Representatives from our partners Guyra Paraguay and REGUA joined us and were on hand to chat with visitors about their projects, visiting the reserves and working with WLT. The many visitors to our stand included Nick Baker who was particularly interested in the work being carried out by Guyra Paraguay and was able to learn more from Andrea Ferreira who is Guyra Paraguay's 'Birding Paraguay' Co-ordinator and long term supporter Bill Oddie, who recently visited the Atlantic Rainforest at REGUA with John Burton, prior to his assistance on the Trust's RHS Chelsea Flower Show stand, Saving the Atlantic Rainforest.
As always we had great time at the Birdfair, which really is a fantastic three days. We would like to thank Puro for generously providing the coffee, Nature Picture Library for the use of the images on our new exhibition and Enterprise Plants for the planters. Thank you also to everyone who came to visit our stand and talk to us.
