Come and see us at the international wildlife event of the year!

This year’s programme at Birdfair is bursting with unmissable talks hosted by experts in a wide range of wildlife and travel topics, from Caribbean conservation to searching for the Eurasian Lynx. The host of organisations exhibiting in the marquees present competitions, special offers and giveaways from exciting wild holidays to an opportunity to meet one of your heroes at a book signing.

World Land Trust (WLT) will be at stand 14-15 in Marquee 2 with the opportunity to meet our conservation partners from Guatemala and Bolivia, who will be giving talks in the Anglian Water Birdwatching Centre.

WLT’s partner Puro Fairtrade Coffee will also be serving coffee at our stand in return for donations to WLT, and we will be running a competition in league with one of our corporate partners, details to follow.


Saving forest through Carbon Balancing

Speaker: Natalie Singleton, Carbon Balanced Development Officer at WLT

Time: Friday 18 August 11:00 am - 11:20 am

Location: Anglian Water Birdwatching Centre

Natalie manages the Carbon Balanced programme at WLT, helping individuals and organisations to reduce and offset their emissions through wildlife conservation. In this talk, she will offer an expert insight into WLT’s emissions offsetting programme, how you can contribute to WLT’s conservation projects and help combat climate change.

How to see the birds of Bolivia

Speaker: Bennett Hennessey, Executive Director of Asociación Armonía

Time: Friday 18 August 3:00 pm – 3:20 pm

Location: Anglian Water Birdwatching Centre

Bennett is the Executive Director of Asociación Armonía, WLT’s partner in Bolivia who have just produced the first field guide for Bolivia’s birds. Bennett will give an overview of Bolivia’s avifauna, a brief summary of the field guide and how to approach birdwatching this mega-diverse nation.

The Conservation Coast: Conservation initiatives in the Caribbean Region of Guatemala

Speaker: Germanico Barrios Blandon, Ecotourism and Marketing Manager of FUNDAECO

Time: Saturday 19 August 12:00 pm – 12:20 pm

Location: Anglian Water Birdwatching Centre

Germanico will introduce the audience to conservation in Guatemala, from the point of view of WLT’s partner FUNDAECO. He will explain the concept of ‘The Conservation Coast’, which supports protected areas and community livelihoods in Guatemala.

Think globally, act locally

Speaker: Charlotte Beckham, Conservation Programmes Manager at WLT

Time: Sunday 20 August 12:00 pm - 12:20pm

Location: Anglian Birdwatching Centre

Charlotte manages Conservation Programmes team at WLT and is the primary contact for WLT’s Central and South American programme partners. She will speak about how WLT develops partnerships with local individuals, communities and NGO’s to engage support and commitment among the people who live in and around protected areas.

Bird Race Challenge

Speaker: Dan Bradbury, WLT Head of Development, and Andrew Whitelee from the Bird Race Challenge

Time: Sunday 20 August 3:00 pm – 3:20 pm

Location: Anglian Birdwatching Centre

What is bird racing? Dan Bradbury and Andrew Whitelee look back at the original Big Bird Race that took place in the early 80’s with celebrity birders Bill Oddie and David Tomlinson and then what happened when they tried to capture the spirit and fun of the 1980s event in 2017!
