World Land Trust (WLT) enjoyed a successful Birdfair 2014 in August.
Birdfair is a key event in the UK wildlife calendar, and provides a great opportunity for WLT staff to showcase important conservation projects across the world. It also offers a chance for members of the public to meet the WLT team – and, sometimes, some of the Trust’s more high profile supporters such as Bill Oddie or Nick Baker.
Birdfair attracts a wide range of people from across the conservation world and you never know who you might bump into on the WLT stand!
WLT has attended Birdfair every year for the past decade and in WLT’s 25th Anniversary year, we rang the changes with a new display stand. As in previous years, we hosted representatives from our overseas project partners. Staff from Puro Coffee, which sponsored the new stand, were on hand to share free coffee.
Birdfair is the world’s largest event for anyone interested in birds, wildlife and conservation. Every year hundreds of exhibitors set up stall at Rutland Water, their stands reflecting all aspects of the birdwatching and conservation sector.
Along with an exciting programme of talks and lectures by leading naturalists, the event is also a showcase for all the latest products for wildlife enthusiasts - cameras and clothing, field guides and videos, optics and artworks, plus a wide range of eco-travel options.
Since it was founded in 1989 Birdfair has supported a wide range of conservation projects in partnership with Birdlife International, a partner of WLT. In 2014, Birdfair raised money for BirdLife’s Marine programme.
