Elephant Parade LondonDate: Venue: Emerald Queen: The Wonder Room at Selfridges on Oxford St. DetailsElephant Parade 2010, organised by Elephant Family, is set to be the biggest public art exhibition ever to be staged in London. The UK’s top artists, celebrities and designers will decorate 250 fibreglass elephants, each 1.4 metre high, in a bid to raise funds for the conservation of critically endangered Asian elephants. The decorated elephants will be displayed across the capital from May to July, with most elephants being auctioned on the 28th June and 3rd July in the grounds of the Royal Chelsea Hospital. However, the Emerald Queen will be the first elephant to be auctioned in the Wonder Room at Selfridges on 23rd June. Funds raised will go to the participating charities. WLT is one of the Parade’s conservation partners and will be exhibiting two elephants; one of them raising funds solely for WLT and the other, created jointly with Elephant Family under special arrangement, raising funds for a wildlife corridor in India that both organisations are supporting. The designs so far for the WLT elephants look magnificent and we can’t wait to see them in situ. We also hope that they will raise significant funds for the Trust’s Elephant Corridors Project in India. Royal Parks Half Marathon - Run for a RangerDate:10 October 2010 Venue: Hyde Park, London Details The Royal Parks Half Marathon will take place on Sunday 10th October 2010 when hundreds of runners will descend on London's magnificent Royal Parks. This unusual half marathon is an ideal way to get fit, help raise funds to save threatened habitats with the WLT and see the glorious autumn colours in London’s parks at the same time. Starting in Hyde Park, the half marathon goes through St James's Park, Green Park and Kensington Gardens, before heading back to Hyde Park for the finish. Runners will see some of London’s greatest landmarks including Buckingham Palace, the Houses of Parliament, the London Eye, Trafalgar Square, Marble Arch and the Royal Albert Hall. The WLT Team will be raising sponsorship for WLT but with a slightly different focus. Over the past 20 years WLT has helped save more than 400,000 acres of land around the world but this land needs to be protected, and funding reserve rangers is a priority. This event will raise funds to assist our project partners to support the salary of a Reserve Ranger for One Year. This event has attracted huge support from would-be runners and the WLT team is already full. But, if you are in London, do cheer them on their way. Learn more about the Royal Parks Half Marathon
