The London Marathon and running for the World Land Trust - your questions answered
Does the World Land Trust have any places in the London Marathon?
Unfortunately the World Land Trust does not have any guaranteed places for the London Marathon and they are so highly sought after that it is unlikely we will be able to acquire any in the near future.
What if I want to run the London Marathon for the WLT?
We would be delighted to have you run for us, but to get a place you will need to put your name down for the ballot. In past years this has given about a 20% chance of being accepted. The ballot for the 2010 Marathon closed some time ago, so you will need to plan well ahead and to consider putting your name down for 2011. If you are unsuccessful in getting a place through the ballot, there are usually still guaranteed places available through other charities.
I don't have a place in the London Marathon, but I would really like to run for the WLT - what can I do?
Remember that there are many other marathons and half-marathons taking place all round the UK, which are much easier to get places for. One of these is the Royal Parks Half Marathon in London, taking place this autumn. WLT has no more places available for this event, but please contact us if you would like to be placed on the reserve list.
The challenge for you will be just the same regardless of which marathon you run and your support is just as valuable to the Trust.
Can you offer help with fundraising?
Let us know what you plan to do and we will be able to advise. Also, you might like to consider setting up a Just Giving or Virgin Money Giving fundraising page. See their websites for more information on raising funds through your run.
We also have a page with hints and tips on fundraising for the WLT, which should provide you with all the information you need.
Edit 13th April: No more places are available for the Royal Parks Half Marathon.
