As well as purchasing land for conservation the World Land Trust (WLT) runs a range of other initiatives, including the Books for Conservation programme, a partnership between WLT and the NHBS Environment Bookstore. The Books for Conservation programme donates surplus books provided by NHBS to small or struggling NGOs around the world.

Students in Madagascar library

Students in Madagascar using the books donated by WLT and NHBS.

In January the Madagascar Fauna Group in Tamatave, Eastern Madagascar sent some wonderful photos of books they received through the programme being used.

Local university students as the Madagascan Fauna Group are benefitting from the new books. Dr Karen Freeman Director of the group said "As you can see, despite being a very modest library it certainly sees a lot of use by the local university students! Your books from the World Land Trust have been a really valuable addition so we all thank you very much. In fact one of the students asked specifically for me to pass on his personal thanks to you all for the great new books you donated."
