EU to ban Blue Fin Tuna fishing in Eastern Atlantic and Mediterranean


Blue fin Tuna numbers have dropped to such a low that EU legislators will move to ban fishing by way of "purse seine", a type of net that floats the top of a long wall of netting on the surface while its bottom is held weighted under the water.

Basking Shark voyage tracked across Atlantic


A Basking Shark, the second largest type of fish in the ocean, has been tagged and tracked by satellite and has travelled over 5900 miles to Canadian Waters at depths of over half a mile.

Polar Bear and Walrus protection law bypassed for oil


The harassment of Polar Bears and the Pacific Walrus has been deemed legal by the US Interior Department; essentially bypassing the Marine Mammal protection act.

World Bank commits to tiger-saving initiative


The world bank has given its public support for a global venture with the aim of reversing the current trend in Wild Tiger population numbers. Celebrities such has Harrison Ford and Bo Derek have pledged their support for the initiative also.
