New study shows protecting primary rainforests vital to diversity

A new study from University of East Anglia shows that tree plantations and regenerating forests in South America and south-east Asia are much less diverse than the primary forests that have been lost and that wildlife may be unable to recolonise these areas from the remaining primary forest fragments.

Latin America gets online plant database

The Latin American Plant Initiative (LAPI) will help improve plant science research and teaching by putting thousands of Latin American botanical specimens into a single online database.

Russian Birds of Prey rescued from smugglers

17 endangered Saker falcons, were illegally caught and about to be smuggled to the Middle East, but were found by customs officers and re-released in Siberia.
