A mysterious cancer spreading across Tasmania threatens the Tasmanian Devil population. Conservationists are looking to the 'Noah's Ark Option' to save them from extinction.

Dwarf Manatee discovered in Brazilian Amazon

The Amazonian Manatee was previously thought to be the only Manatee adapted to live in fresh water, that was until the discovery of the Dwarf Manatee, Trichechus Bernardi in 2002.

Rare sea species discovered off Scotlands west coast

One of the worlds rarest coral-like structures, previously thought to exist in only one sea Loch in Scotland, and only three other places in the world, has been discovered in Loch Teacuis in Morvern.

Global warming is thought to have the potential to wipe out most species

A recent study at the University of York found that three of the four biggest extinctions over the last 500 million years occurred during periods of high temperatures.
