Study identifies 794 species facing extinction

Latest News Headlines
Scientists working with the Alliance for Zero Extinction (AZE) have identified 794 species facing imminent extinction and suggest that safeguarding 595 sites around the world would help prevent a global extinction crisis. Of the areas analysed in the study, which include the WLT project areas Tapichalaca and Yunguilla in Ecuador, only a third were currently protected. The study concludes that the first step towards preventing extinctions of the species under threat should be to protect their habitats through land purchase, conservation easements, community management, or protected area enforcement.
