Help Save the Indian Elephants - By Watching Indian Films

Soak up some warmth and absorb the vibrant colours and sounds from two Indian documentaries at Aldeburgh Cinema on October 9th 3pm. The World Land Trust, an international conservation charity, is holding this event to raise money for its Indian elephant conservation project. Two documentaries will be shown, both offering some amazing insights into Indian culture.

The first documentary "The Gods Never Die", shows "The Dance of Splendour" where villagers from the district of Kerala, South West India, live to the rhythm of rites dedicated to their ancestors and protective deities. It is brought to us by Johnathan Watts, film director and photographer from the Genevan Ethnographic Museum, Switzerland. In the second documentary "The Battle of the Ganges" the director Daniel Whistler paints an intimate picture with amazing visuals of Veer Bhadra Mishra, an Indian Holy man, fighting for the survival of his culture and the River Ganges on which it is based. Both directors will be present to answer questions after the screenings.
