Read the most current WLT press releases here Rainforest in Ecuador Saved by World Land TrustPress Release dated: Friday, October 11, 2002Ecuador is one of the richest countries in the world for biodiversity – with hundreds of species not found anywhere else in the world, and some of those being among the world's rarest species. And like so much of South America, the remaining forests are still being cleared at an alarming rate. Working with the local Fundación Jocotoco, the UK's World Land Trust (WLT) is raising funds to buy patches of the remaining forests, particularly those which are home to rare and endangered birds and other wildlife. These chunks of forest are being connected by wildlife corridors.
