Rare "Turkey" Commemorated in Christmas Card

World Land Trust Christmas Card 2002: Capercaillie by Greg PooleThe World Land Trust (WLT) Christmas card design for 2002 has been donated by wildlife artist Greg Poole.

John Burton, the CEO of the WLT said “Ever since I bought one of Greg Poole’s large prints (of hares and partridge) several years ago, I had always hoped we could use one for a Christmas card. The one we have chosen is of a Capercaillie – we thought it was appropriate as it is a large turkey like bird. It also has a conservation story – it became extinct in Scotland during the 19th century, and was successfully reintroduced, but is once again in serious decline”.

Greg Poole has traveled widely, and his wildlife art is often colourful and dramatic. More examples can be seen on his website: www.gregpoole.co.uk

WLT Christmas cards can be ordered online or by contacting the Trust.
