Notes: Gemfields ethical emerald company have been supporting WLT for two years, sponsoring elephant fundraising events in particular, and in March 2011 a group from WLT, including Bruce Pearson, Bill Oddie and Simon Barnes, made a site visit to see the mine and the surrounding countryside. “The trip was an opportunity for the team to visit the mine and to do due diligence over how we operate”, said Anna Haber, head of PR and Marketing at Gemfields, “It was also a chance for us to look at ways of working more closely together in the future”. Bruce Pearson recorded much of what he saw, including the miners at work.
