A graphic artist by training (I created the current Wall’s ice cream logo and Formula one motor racing logo). I returned to my roots in Suffolk to paint and sculpt in the landscape I grew up in and love. I work from my studio in the garden of our family home. I now balance my time between painting the Suffolk landscape and creating sculpture. I create one off sculptures, using found objects that I collect. I often use old wood working tools and other wooden objects that I feel have a soul. These objects when brought together bring to life a new sculpture which has a personality and a quality of its own. Recently I have combined introducing the sculptures with telling a narrative within my paintings.
"I have followed and collected Roger Hardy's work with fascinated appreciation for some years now, from his moody, ghostly silver-birches in our Dunwich woods to the fantastical – but always oddly logical – sculptures he makes from found objects, tools, and fragments of machinery and furniture. Difficult to pigeonhole him, but there is always a quality of wonder, and appreciation, and often considerable humour which lifts the spirits". Libby Purves, writer and broadcaster.
