Ian Griffiths, or just Griff, as he is better known lives and works on the Lizard peninsular in Cornwall. Griff has been exhibiting since 1971, at venues including Whitby Art Gallery, Westminster Hall London, York, Leeds, Poland, Brighton and many other places far and wide. It was only in December 2006 that he became a full time artist specialising in birds. He has travelled the world and has witnessed first-hand the need for direct action to be taken to protect habitats for wildlife to survive.
"I tend to convey my subject as part of its environment and create a sense of place rather than just a study painting"
His painting 'Ripples' won 'animals in their environment' category in the BBC Wildlife artist of the year 2011 and his painting 'Hope' of Spix Macaws was runner up in 'World birds' This year he has been selected for the final once more with his painting Skyward.
