In his speech on Earth Optimism Day, Sir David Attenborough added his own 'glorious piece of optimism' by describing how conservationists working together all over the world had persuaded the Sabahan government in Malaysian Borneo to cancel the construction of the 'Sukau Bridge'.
This highway bridge would have been built over the Kinabatangan River and through adjacent wildlife reserves protecting the last remaining pieces of Bornean Rainforest habitat.
