It is with great sadness that we announce the untimely death of our colleague and friend Roger Wilson.

Roger passed away peacefully on Thursday, 8 June 2017. John Burton commented on behalf of World Land Trust (WLT) "He was one of the unsung heroes of wildlife conservation, and among the most experienced and innovative of his time.

"He has worked in the Seychelles, on bird conservation, then in Rwanda conserving mountain gorillas, many projects in West Africa, then Belize. For the past ten years he has worked with WLT directing and developing all the Trust’s diverse conservation programmes. In addition to managing the conservation team, Roger’s vision spearheaded the WLT philosophy of working through and empowering local conservation partners, in a way that is still ahead of its time."

Roger’s death was completely unexpected, and a full obituary can be read here »

This is such a very sad loss. Roger was a great conservationist and a wonderful man and it was a privilege to work with him for a short time. My deepest condolences to his family and everyone at WLT. Roger’s conservation legacy will live on for long to come as will he in our hearts and memories.

Extremely sad news.
Roger was instrumental in Denmaur's involvement with the World Land Trust, and an advocate of our Revive brand.
I'm sure he will greatly missed by many.

My condolences to the family and staff of WLT. Roger was a good friend and inspiration when I worked at WLT. The idea that he will be there no more is strange and difficult to grasp. The world will miss such a good and able man.

I have had the huge privilege of knowing, working with and being influenced by Roger for the past 7 years. I cannot imagine the sadness felt by his family and within WLT for such a colourful, knowledgeable and supportive individual. He will be greatly missed.
