Jorupe

The Tumbesian ecoregion is characterised by its dry forests and is endangered in itself; it contains a host of threatened species. Jorupe is one of the very best examples of this forest type - some 50 Tumbesian endemic birds species occur here, eight of which are globally threatened. It is also botanically important. Some 20,000 dry forest trees are being planted on the pasture here to extend the forest area.
