Updated November 2000A World Land Trust volunteer has spent the last 6 months establishing a volunteer programme for the Belize Audubon Society in Belize. To continue this excellent progress, the WLT is now recruiting someone to take over from her in January 2001.
A volunteer is needed for 6 months to co-ordinate volunteers, interns and researchers within the Belize Audubon Society, (BAS). The job involves designing and managing intern and research partnerships with universities, promoting volunteering with BAS amongst Belizeans, and establishing a defined management system in negotiation with other staff.
Skills required:
- Good administrative skills
- Good communication and people management skills
- Experience of selling ideas to third parties
- Self-motivated and self-managing
- Practical
- An ability to cope with stressful and unexpected situations
- Spanish an advantage
Accommodation supplied or paid by BAS. Opportunities to visit beautiful BAS reserves as well as other locations. Volunteers will need to raise funds for their flights and spend at least two days at the WLT office in Suffolk as part of their preparation.
