The World Land Trust has a vacancy for a Trainee Fund Raising Assistant. The post is initially for six months, after which a suitable candidate could be offered full-time paid employment. Fundraising is essential in the world of charitable trusts and NGOs, and yet in house training is difficult to obtain. The post therefore provides both work experience for newly qualified graduates and training in funding international conservation.
Qualifications: Degree (or equivalent level). Some experience or interest in natural history, wildlife conservation or related topics, and overseas travel would be an advantage but are not as important as enthusiasm, good organisational and communication skills. An ability to write good English is essential.
The Trainee will be based in the WLT's office in Halesworth, Suffolk, England. The Trainee will work with the senior staff of the Trust helping develop existing and new fundraising initiatives, in particular working on proposals to foundations and trusts. The WLT currently has projects, or potential projects, in Belize, Ecuador, Brazil, Argentina, India and the Philippines.
Although the post is initially unsalaried, support and help will be given for travel expenses, finding accommodation, and transferring benefits. Formal training expenses will be met by the Trust.
For more details of the WLT please visit the rest of our web site (www.worldlandtrust.org) or call 01986-874422 for an information pack in the first instance. Applications for the post should be in writing (letter or Email), include a full C.V., and a short outline of your planned career in conservation.
Deadline: Applications should be received before January 31 2001. Interviews will be held in Central London early February.
