Gift AidWhat is Gift Aid?The Gift Aid scheme enables the World Land Trust (WLT) to reclaim the basic rate of tax on all donations made, at no extra cost to you. If you pay income or capital gains tax in the UK at least equal to the amount the WLT claims, we can reclaim 25p for every £1 you donate, well as receiving a further 3% transitional relief from the Government. Note that only donations from individuals (that is, not company or school donations) are eligible for Gift Aid . You may notify the WLT of the cancellation of this declaration at any time, and it is your responsibility to do so, should your tax status change. Further details about Transitional Relief:Following the decrease of the basic rate of tax from 22% to 20% at the end of the 2006-2007 tax year, the amount of Gift Aid that charities can reclaim on donations fell correspondingly. The government recognised that this could cause difficulties for charities and for the 3 tax years after 2006-2007 is paying a further transitional relief to top Gift Aid payments up to previous levels. When is a donation Gift Aid eligible? If you are a UK taxpayer we can claim Gift Aid on your donations when you make a Gift Aid Declaration to the World Land Trust.
