AeroBed® is working in partnership with the World Land Trust
by making a donation to purchase four square meters of tropical
forest for every AeroBed® Extreme product purchased. Their
target is 150 acres (over 600,000 square meters) over the next
three years. AeroBed® Extreme inflatable mattresses are made
from environmentally friendly Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU)
which is 100% PVC free. TPU is 100% recyclable and breaks down
naturally in the environment, and the packaging is also fully
recyclable.
Bird Holidays, a Leeds based specialist holiday company, have
offset the effects of international travel for ecotourism, not
just for the organisation itself, but for all of its clients’ projected
emissions for the next 20 years.
Bird Holidays have now taken a lead in environmental responsibility
within the ecotourism market. For the last 14 years they have
focussed their efforts on running sustainable tourism in over
40 countries worldwide, with an emphasis on working with local
guides, reserves and business. Now they have taken the next step
and offset their emissions with the WLT.
Cleansing Service Group (CSG), is one of the UK's largest privately owned waste management groups, operating for over 75 years across many sectors. Its customers include Government departments, local authorities, and utility companies and one of the company's biggest customers is the energy giant EDF Energy.
CSG linked with the WLT in 2007, pledging to reduce its carbon footprint by funding the purchase of two acres of tropical forest each time it completes a commission for EDF Energy, for whom it collects and processes hazardous waste. At the end of 2008 CSG has just completed the funding of its 40th acre.
CVF, a Basingstoke-based company specialising in the financing of commercial
vehicles for businesses of all sizes, has made a commitment to raise funds
for conservation by making a donation to WLT on behalf of its
clients, as part of their finance agreement. Working on a figure
of £12.50 per client, CVF aim to raise £40,000 per year for
the next three years, which WLT, working with it's local partner organisation
GUYRA Paraguay, will vest to provide vital support funding for land purchase
and protection in the critically-threatened Atlantic Forest in the San
Rafael Reserve, Paraguay.
Darlings Real Dog Food is a new, small, ethical, family-run dog food company. This web-based company is offering a range of raw, fresh dog foods, bones, biscuits and treats prepared using locally-produced ingredients approved by the company's own Chief Veterinary Surgeon. 1% of turnover is being pledged with a minimum 12-month donation of £6,000.
ecoigo pride themselves on being London's environmentally conscious cab service and provide transportation for WLT's Patron, Sir David Attenborough, to attend the Trust's events. "We provide clients with a professional, dependable and sustainable service at a competitive rate and are delighted to work with the World Land Trust", says Daniel Todary, a director of ecoigo, going on to say, "We control our carbon emissions by exclusively using vehicles with Hybrid Synergy Drive, the cleanest and most advanced engine technology available and to further reduce our impact on the environment we offset double any emissions from every journey through WLT's Carbon Balanced programme."
Enterprise Plants specialises in supplying
and maintaining environment-enhancing plants in city offices and
have been active supporters of the WLT since the early days of
the Trust. Through their 'Orchid
Planter', Enterprise Plants raise funds to protect orchids
in their natural rainforest habitat.
In order to attract
new companies, Enterprise Plants offer the Planters free for the
first month, and make a donation of £25 per planter to the WLT for
land purchases in the Ecuadorian rainforest.
Eurojersey are Italian leading producers of warp-knit fabrics range named Sensitive® used in the lingerie, swimwear and sports sector, sold internationally. From January 2010, through their Sensitive® Fabrics System, they are donating funds to purchase and protect One Metre of Rainforest for One Metre of Fabric sold. The Eurojersey operations strive to be as environmentally responsible as possible and this ethic involves all their 189 staff working for the SensitivEcoSystem® programme in their Caronno Pertusella factory in Italy. Training in safety and environmental issues has enabled them to attain record results in the whole production cycle, recovery of recyclable materials and the elimination of energy waste. "The concerns of everyone involved about environmental conditions has been the main factor in turning awareness into a shared ethical behaviour, in relation to both the work tasks performed and everybody's private life", says Eurojersey. As the producers of Sensitive® Fabrics Eurojersey is also introducing WLT to some of its customers who, in turn, it is hoped will support WLT themselves. WLT is funding the purchase and protection of critically threatened Atlantic Rainforests in Misiones Province in Argentina, on behalf of Eurojersey.
Goodlife Foods Ltd, a small company who produce branded Vegetarian Society-endorsed frozen products available in a wide range of high street shops, including Waitrose, have recently launched a 'Catwalk' range.
1p from the sale of every pack in this range is donated to WLT for the purchase and protection of Atlantic Rainforest working with project partners, REGUA. Their products use only natural ingredients and do not contain hydrogenated fat and palm oil.
Greentree caffé shops are a new chain in Slovakia selling hot and cold drinks and delicious food made from organic and locally-sourced ingredients. Support for WLT is coming through their 'merchandise corner' and Greentree caffé have pledged 5% of turnover on all sales. They currently have three stores in Bratislava, details of which can be found on their website, so if you find yourself in Slovakia do call in and mention WLT - you will be guaranteed a very warm welcome.
Howard Smith Paper Group is a leading provider of all types of paper to the retail and business sectors, with a commitment to environmental responsibility. In their Policy Statement they confirm: "At Howard Smith Paper we understand the importance of the environment. We also accept our position of responsibility to influence and lead the paper and print industry in resource efficiency and corporate responsibility". Their support to WLT is through their Greencoat 55 and eco-friendly photo inkjet paper where 35p per pack sold is donated to the World Land Trust for environmental and carbon footprint reduction projects.
Ian Smiths Office Products Group collect used toner cartridges across the UK and the funds raised are donated to WLT. In 2007 their donations supported land purchase in Brazil and their donation received in October 2008 has been directed to the Orang-utan Appeal. Ian Smiths also gives WLT discount on stationery and office furniture, and provided major support when the Trust moved to new office space in 2008.
JML have teamed up with the World Land Trust to donate profits
for land purchase and restoration activities to save critical
habitats in WLT project areas. We hope that this partnership will
save thousands of acres of tropical forest and their wildlife.
With the new launch of Doktor Power, JML aim to set the standard
for eco-conscious product manufacture. This multi-action cleaning
treatment comes with excellent environmental credentials: as well
as being recyclable, it is non toxic, biodegradable and is produced
in a solar powered factory. JML has also pledged to cuts its energy
usage by 15% every year.
Lampiris is a Belgium-based company offering electricity based
on green energy to both businesses and individuals. Currently Lampiris
donate 5 euros to the WLT for each new customer. Funds raised are
used for purchase and protection of forests in Ecuador and Brazil.
Media Bounty is a PR and marketing agency, obtaining coverage for its clients in newspapers, magazines, online and on radio. Established with 'green' credentials, for every campaign they take on, Media Bounty buy an acre or half an acre of rainforest on behalf of the client, through the World Land Trust. Their employees are also paid to undertake volunteering for selected charities.

Ocean Contract Cleaning was formed in 1973 and, over the past 30 years, has developed a reputation for offering efficient professional service, employing more than 2,000 well trained staff. OCC recognises the importance of ensuring that their company has as small an effect on the environment as possible and only uses chemicals which are Ph neutral biodegradable and environmentally friendly. Their environmental policy demonstrates a commitment to ensure that their impact on the environment is continuing to be minimised. OCC has donated £100,000 (£50,000 in 2007 and £50,000 in February 2008) which WLT has used for the purchase and protection of Atlantic Rainforest working through Guyra Paraguay. OCC has pledged donations totalling £1-million over the next decade. WLT applauds OCC's commitment to saving threatened habitats and their biodiversity and will continue to work with OCC on where their funds are used.
PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP protects acres of threatened tropical forest and wildlife habitat with the World Land Trust as part of the firm's long term sustainability strategy. For every one tonne of carbon emissions saved by their employees reducing their air travel, PwC is making a donation to the World Land Trust sufficient to purchase an acre of threatened Ecuadorian cloud forest, helping WLT conservation project partner Fundación EcoMinga protect a large area of virgin cloud forest through the establishment of the Cerro Candelaria Reserve.
Puro
Puro is the the only Fairtrade coffee brand that works with the World
Land Trust to actively buy and protect rainforests: 2% of money
generated from the sales of Puro coffee helps buy and protect
precious rainforests in South America and also ensures that third
world growers get a fair and sustainable deal.
Situated
in the heart of London's West End, Rainforest Cafe is a themed restaurant
that recreates the sights and sounds of a tropical rainforest through
a combination of animated wildlife and special effects. Rainforest
Cafe is the largest fully non-smoking restaurant in London and a popular
place for birthday parties or family occasions. It offers a varied
menu of American and tropical cuisine.
Rainforest Cafe has been a supporter of WLT since 1999. Not only has
the venue been used to great success for several prestigious WLT events,
the Cafe raises money for WLT conservation in Ecuador through a special
dish on the menu and through the coins thrown into the Crocodile Wishing
Pool. Money is also raised through special Educational School Tours
that were designed in partnership with WLT. The Rainforest Cafe Reserve
was created in 2002, extending the existing the Tapichalaca Reserve
and continues to flourish under the stewardship of local NGO, the Jocotoco
Foundation.
Reckitt Benckiser has committed to reduce the total carbon footprint of its products' life cycle, from creation to disposal, by 20% by 2020.
It has developed the "Our Home Our Planet" initiative across many of its brands, such as Finish, Vanish, Harpic, Calgon, Woolite and Dettol, to help educate consumers to make small changes in the way they use the Company's products, to reduce their energy and water consumption in the home. As part of its "Our Home Our Planet" initiative, Reckitt Benckiser is supporting and promoting the World Land Trust and its international conservation work.
Sarah Class is a professional musician with a passionate interest in the environment. In the words of HMV Classical Reviews Magazine: "Sarah Class is one of Britains brightest young musical stars. Her style is both hauntingly ethereal and sensual, mingling folky influences and a powerfully romantic blend of orchestral and electronic sonorities.." Sarah has composed scores for film and television, and has worked extensively with the BBC Natural History Unit. Most notably, The Meerkats, narrated by Paul Newman, The Blue Planet (the environmental sequel - Deep Trouble,) and the soundtrack to State of the Planet (narrated by Sir David Attenborough), nominated for an Emmy. She is supporting the WLT by donating £1 from each sale of her new CD, A New Dawn.
A major power supplier in the United
Kingdom SSE have contracted the WLT to plant trees as part of
a customer incentive programme. The
World Land Trust partners in Ecuador, Brazil, Paraguay and Mexico
are using the funds from this donation for restoration ecology,
which involves planting up to 60 species of tree at a single
site.
One
of the UK’s fastest growing online travel businesses,
TravelRepublic.co.uk, wanted to address the issue of carbon dioxide
emissions from their flights and to put something back into the
planet's biodiversity.
Every time a flight is booked on Travel
Republic’s website, the carbon dioxide emissions from that
flight are automatically calculated, and the customer has the
opportunity to offset their emissions. In addition,
Travel Republic preserve existing rainforest for every
customer making a booking with them.
